Shreveport Green Driving Awareness Slogan Contest
Here's why we want to raise awareness:
*According to a study conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, between 2011-2014 there were 200,000 crashes caused by roadside debris that caused 39,000 injuries and 500 deaths.
* The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a report in 2012 that there were 51,000 crashes due to object that came off of another vehicle .
*In Louisiana, there were 91 injuries and 2 fatalities due to crashes caused by objects falling from motor vehicles reported in 2017, according to The Louisiana Highway Safety Research Group.
Shreveport Green Neighborhood & Education Program is proud to announce a community contest to increase awareness for the need to change driving habits that lead to accidents and roadway debris and litter from uncovered items hauled in truck beds or trailers.
Create your own highway safety sign using your own slogan to encourage drivers to secure their loads when hauling in truck beds/trailers. Create a sign and submit by February 22nd by 4 p.m. Take a photo of you and your sign and email the photo to ccalloway@shreveportgreen.org.

Karples Manuscript Museum Volunteers Needed
The Karpeles Foundation was formed in 1983 to serve local communities and hosts the largest private collection of historic documents and manuscripts in the World. The Museum is a nonprofit 501 C3 organization and is free and open to the public. Here at our location in Highland we also have the privilege of owning a beautiful park garden.
Unfortunately the building and the garden have both become overgrown, and fallen into disrepair. I am confident the museum and its adjoining garden can be restored to their former glory with a little help from local students, volunteers, and support.
If you are able to volunteer, conact Alex LeBlanc at kmuseumshv@aol.com or call 318-820-1642.
