The Arc Caddo-Bossier's GREAT Program volunteers needed!

 The Arc Caddo-Bossier is a nonprofit that benefits the GREAT Program. Volunteers would work with horses to help people with disabilities and special needs. Anyone 14 years old and older are eligible to volunteer. No horse experience required.

Fill the Bus volunteers needed!

 Fill the Bus is a project where United Way of Northwest Louisiana Partners with local grocery stores to have an in-person school supply drive! School busses on site will be filled with essential supplies which will make a huge impact on the success of local students and teachers this year. 

Volunteers are needed during the weekend to help pass out flyers, receive donations, and transport donations onto the bus.

Volunteers Needed for Activities at The Glen

 The Glen is an assisted living home looking for volunteers who like to have fun to make the lives of the residents more enjoyable. The residents have a joy for life and want to share it with others through activities, games, parties and more. 

Volunteers must be 18 or older and fully vaccinated for Covid-19. 

Below is a list of areas where volunteers are needed:

  • Calling Bingo  
  • Leading a Monthly Book Club 
  • Reviewing a book once a month 
  • Teaching a Craft or other hobby 
  • Interesting talks or demonstrations  
  • Helping people research their genealogy   
  • Teaching cornhole and overseeing the games 
  • Exercise for seniors – certified instructor   
  • Bean Bag Baseball – pick up bean bags  
  • Party committee - planning, set up, helping during party and take down 
  • Or if you have an idea for another fun or interesting activity

United Way seeking interns!

 United Way of Northwest Louisiana has two openings for Donor Relations interns. They are looking for two dynamic team members who will be available 20 hours per week June 28th through December 17th. This paid internship will pay $1,000 per month with an additional $1,000 per month in local reimbursement. They will be accepting applications through June 2nd. Winter Jam 2021 - Childfund Volunteers needed!

Winter Jam! The night featured Crowder, We The Kingdom, KB, Colton Dixon, Riley Clemmons, New Song, and Louie Giglio and we need your help!

The event is taking place on Thursday, April 22nd beginning at 4 pm. Volunteers will be needed from 4 pm til the end of the show!

Shreveport Green Driving Awareness Slogan Contest

 Here's why we want to raise awareness:

*According to a study conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, between 2011-2014 there were 200,000 crashes caused by roadside debris that caused 39,000 injuries and 500 deaths. 

* The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a report in 2012 that there were 51,000 crashes due to object that came off of another vehicle . 

*In Louisiana, there were 91 injuries and 2 fatalities due to crashes caused by objects falling from motor vehicles reported in 2017, according to The Louisiana Highway Safety Research Group. 


Shreveport Green Neighborhood & Education Program is proud to announce a community contest to increase awareness for the need to change driving habits that lead to accidents and roadway debris and litter from uncovered items hauled in truck beds or trailers. 

Create your own highway safety sign using your own slogan to encourage drivers to secure their loads when hauling in truck beds/trailers. Create a sign and submit by February 22nd by 4 p.m. Take a photo of you and your sign and email the photo to ccalloway@shreveportgreen.org. 


Contest rules & tips:

*Sign can be any size

*No profanity or offensive language

*Use up to 7 words in slogan

*Include your name, address, and cell phone number in the submission email

* Be creative


Contest prizes:

1st place: $150

2nd place: $100

3rd place: $75

Winning photos will be distributed to local media, on social media and used in other educational materials.

Basic Position Information:
Purpose Statement: Assist the implementation of the regional volunteer recruitment plan by performing volunteer recruitment activities to attract skilled, talented and diverse volunteer workforce to service in all lines of business around the organization 

Position Description Information:
Key Responsibilities: 
* Assist in the development and implementation of volunteer workforce recruitment activities.
*Use knowledge of marketing theories to promote volunteer opportunities on a variety of digital channels. 
*Adjust and create recruitment 'pitches' to match the target audience
*Assist the Regional Volunteer Service Team in the development of FY22 diverse recruitment plan. 
*Meet with Volunteer Management team to determine targeted recruitment needs in the region. 
*Proactively recruits new volunteers for general and specific volunteer opportunities. 
*Reaches out to community groups to set up recruitment presentations
*Plans and carries out recruitment events for communities served by the Louisiana Region of American Red Cross, for both identified partner groups and open-call interest meetings. 
*Promotes volunteer opportunities at virtual events. 

Qualifications:
*Proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products and Video Conferencing tools. 
*A desire to develop a broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service. 
*Enthusiastic about Red Cross mission and programs. 
*The ability to effectively communicate Red Cross mission and activities in a manner that is both attractive and realistic.
